QStar Archive Manager
QStar Archive Manager software creates an ‘Active Archive’ by virtualizing an archive technology behind a file system. Users and administrators can see ordinary file shares and can easily search, find and retrieve data directly from the archive.
Simple Integration – Future Proof Software Solution
QStar Archive Manager software can be installed on any server platform running Windows, UNIX, or LINUX, for seamless integration with existing network security models. Software solutions can lower costs while offering easier migration to new servers, operating systems or storage as future needs dictate, delivering tremendous cost savings compared to appliance-based solutions.
Superior Flexibility and Scalability
Easily scalable from terabytes to multiple petabytes, QStar’s supremely flexible software platform can manage and archive a massive number of files using any archive storage including tape, optical, RDX, disk, object storage or cloud. The software supports a choice of proprietary or industry standard file systems such as LTFS (for tape) or UDF (for optical). Uniquely, QStar software supports LTFS volume-spanning for tape libraries, allowing data sets to grow larger than a single piece of media.
Archive Data Authenticity and Protection
To protect valuable archive data, a robust retention management feature is available to create policies to prevent deliberate or accidental deletion or over-writes of data in the archive and provides an audit trail infrastructure for reporting purposes. The software securely retains files in a read-only format, within the archive, for a pre-determined period of time. Multiple retention periods can be created to support different data sets to meet varying compliance needs. Options are available for data encryption and digital signature, which provide added data security and integrity.
eDiscovery can be a critical solution for compliance and can be easily integrated with QStar Archive Manager allowing key word searches of the entire archive.
Archive Disaster Protection Strategies
An archive using QStar software offers several data protection strategies. With Archive Manager, a media-copy feature automatically creates a duplicate copy of selected archive volumes for offline and offsite storage. In addition, older data sets that are infrequently accessed can also be taken offline to a deep archive.
Replication and Mirroring Options
QStar Archive Replicator and Data Director software can be installed to extend the archive disaster protection capabilities of Archive Manager by creating greater system resilience and higher data availability as part of a 3-2-1 archive strategy.
QStar Archive Replicator software can replicate data to up to four archive storage technologies, using either proprietary or industry standard file systems. These archives can be located within a single site or across multiple geographic locations.
This functionality gives organizations the flexibility to employ blends of storage technologies, creating a hybrid archive, which will fit their individual archive and disaster prevention requirements. In addition, this solution prevents disruption and promotes cost savings by automatically replicating to newly added storage, without the need for migratory software. Read more
Data Director software uses block-based synchronous mirroring technology to ensure that data is continuously written on two storage systems within a site or across the globe. Data Director is available with multiple real-time mirroring options that include media mirroring within a single library (DDR1), device mirroring within a single site (DDR2), and site mirroring across multiple geographic locations (DDR3). uses synchronous mirroring technology to ensure that data is continuously written on two storage systems within a site or across the globe.
