Magellan Partners With QStar To Become A Full Service ASP
Irvine, California, June 11, 1999
Having a software program to run jukeboxes across several different platforms was important to Magellan Software's (Irvine, CA) customers. Mike Pagani, managing director of product technology in Magellan's UNIX division. Pagani was directly involved in choosing QStar's Data Director. "We wanted to offer the same or greater functionality than the AS400 solution offers within Magellan. We've been able to clean up some of the problems our customers were having with another product. Data Director enabled us to drive Hewlett-Packard jukeboxes and sell a front-to-back solution. We can even sell HP magneto-optical with AIX, as well as Solaris and Linux the other platforms we support on UNIX."
QStar Data Director is transparent to all off-the-shelf applications, including imaging, document management, Web server, and workflow solutions. QStar Data Director tracks enterprise-wide data, whether it is on online magnetic disk, archival media, or stored off-site. This volume and data tracking can all be performed from a single console, which is supported by any Windows NT or UNIX computer on the corporate network. "QStar runs across multiple platforms," added Pagani. "It has the track record and the optical jukebox and device support that we were looking for."
