Dallas Morning News Image Archive Solution takes Industry Regulation Compliance and Corporate Governance Award with the Help of QStar Technologies at Storage Networking World 2005

QStar Technologies, today announced that Dallas Morning News was selected from over 100 entries in five categories in the Storage Networking World “Best Practices in Storage” awards. The awards are judged by representatives from a variety of organizations including Pace University, Rent-A-Center and The Evaluator Group.
Dallas Morning News received the award for Industry Regulation Compliance and Corporate Governance. This award is given to organizations that meet or exceed industry regulations specified by the SEC, Patriot Act, HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, DoD and CFR. The Dallas Morning News solution features Plasmon’s G-Series Libraries with Ultra Density Optical (UDO), Software Construction Company’s MediaServer and is powered by QStar’s mirroring storage management software, Data Director.
Bob Mason, former director of publishing systems at the Dallas Morning News, and current Chief Technology Officer for ImpreMedia LLC, was a featured speaker at SNW 2005 on Thursday October 27th, where he presented the storage management solution he implemented during his tenor, that is safely archiving more than two million priceless images a year. “The solution was installed easily and has run flawlessly since installation, allowing the management of the photo archives in a very cost effective manner”, explains Mason.
