QStar Technologies Announces the Release of Version 4.9
The latest QStar release is available, offering new device support and a range of new features.
Florida, USA, January 3rd 2003
QStar, a leading storage solution provider, today announced the release of Software Version 4.9 for all supported platforms.
QStar has introduced the following new features:
- The UDF File System on Optical WORM Media - QStar, one of the few companies to do so, now offers the UDF file system on optical WORM media. This truly important breakthrough gives the customer the capability of having a non-proprietary file system using optical media and the added ability to read the media in a stand-alone drive.
- Heterogeneous Drive and Media Environments - QStar has added support for jukeboxes with multiple drive types within the same jukebox and also offers support for single and dual sided media within the same jukebox. This offers added flexibility to the jukebox environment and reduces the cost of ownership.
- Magazine Exchange - QStar has implemented magazine exchange for jukeboxes with magazines or packs allowing the entire magazine/pack to be imported or exported.
- The Exchange Command - Offers the added flexibility to move one or a range of media from one location to another without removing the media from the jukebox. This command allows the user to fill a magazine/pack with the exact media to be removed or added to the jukebox.
- Enhanced Logging - The QStar syslog file contains more detailed information, which will aid in problem diagnosis.
- Enhanced Jukebox Inventories - Logical inventories have been improved for jukeboxes with magazines/packs by adding the magazine/pack number and the shelf number within the magazine/pack to the jukebox inventory output.
- New licensing and installation features have enhanced cluster installations.
- Large Sector Size Media - QStar now offers 4096 sector-sized media (9.1 gigabytes) support for all supported file systems.
- Incremental Copydisk - Improves media duplication by adding the ability to do a daily copydisk, a utility that makes exact block-by-block media copies, using the UDF file system and optical WORM media.
- Inherent Permissions - Allows the use of predefined inherent permissions for the file system on the NT/Windows 2000 platforms.
- Unlimited File Size - QStar now offers unlimited file size for all supported file systems. |
QStar has also introduced within this release support for the following devices:
- ASACA 750 series DVD jukeboxes
- DSM series Optical jukeboxes
- Panasonic DVD drives
- Hyper magazine and Pack support for the Pioneer DVD jukeboxes
