QStar Technologies Announces HSM Version 4.8.99 release
Features include support for the flipper mechanism in the JVC ranges of DVD jukeboxes and the introduction of a Volume Librarian Scheduler
May 2002
QStar, a leading storage solution provider, today announced the release of its latest version of HSM storage Management software. Key features of this new release include support for the media flipper mechanism in the range of DVD jukeboxes from JVC and the inclusion of a Volume Librarian (VL) Scheduler.
Included in this latest release is support for the JVC media ‘flipper’ mechanism. By adding a ‘flipper’, the on-line capacity doubles within the same physical jukebox using double-sided media in place of the single sided. Where floor space is a premium, doubling the capacity within the same footprint, is a great advantage, as well as being very cost efficient.
QStar has also introduced a VL Scheduler feature. The VL Scheduler allows tasks to be run out of peak hours when user requests are at their lowest. Tasks include media duplication (copydisk), media erases and CD/DVD mastering sessions. Tasks that require long periods of drive usage within the jukebox, or tasks that are non-critical, can be scheduled to run out of hours.
